Japanese Food


Now this is cool. Japanese Designer Masaaki Hiromura merged Japanese typography (Kanji) with signs or food symbols. Combining these two elements makes it easier to understand Japanese characters. But it is also entirely readable by Japanese/Chinese speakers. The stoke and style of the kanji is also in line with the cleanliness of the icon, whether its an eggplant or an octopus.

REUSABLE/BAG


Really innovative reusable bag, an innovative solution that would display their affiliation towards the same and also spread the message amongst their customers. Lee to to drive the message home in a fun and effective way, they want to make something a bit more inventive than just a bag made of recycled paper. The ‘Never Wasted’ shopping bag that can be reused in one way or another. Some for fun, some for function, but nothing ever goes into the trash. Not only did this make the idea long-lasting and interactive but also conveyed the message in a fascinating manner. Word spread, footfall increased and the initial production of 3000 bags went on to another 10,000.” I love this ideas of this shopping bag, its kinda a “happy meal” for an adult.

A1 Scrabble -Andrew Capener


Scrabble, one of the most beloved board game in the world gets a design treatment from Andrew Capener. A BYU graduate, turned Scrabble into a typography orgy.

Andrew told fastcodesign that his motivation was simple: “I set out to… create a scrabble set that a designer would dream of.”

Scrabble is the sort of board game you buy once in a lifetime, which is great for consumers — not so great for Scrabble’s U.S. manufacturer, Hasbro. “Scrabble could be making a lot more money off of its players if there could be a way for them to constantly feel as if they need to update… [m]uch like Adobe does with their software,” Capener says. So he got to thinking about typefaces. “Since fonts are like fashion — they go in and out of [style] — I envisioned the Scrabble font sets as being affordably tempting, leaving type-loving Scrabbleoholics powerless,” he says. “This would provide Scrabble with a way to keep customers coming back to them, wanting to update their set.”

Morgans Hotel, New York a new HIP hotel in the city blow my mind with their way to welcome guest, with the quote postcards they leave on your pillow. Fun, inspiring, nice clean typography, and the type of quotes that gets you into trouble when you in the city.

Watching this marketing campaign from EF language school makes you want to travel, learn the language, play the language, lost in the language, fall in love with the language. The marketing campaign exploring each city of Barcelona, London, Beijing, and Paris. The marketing campaign is well executed with sound, typography and color blended together.  Kudos to Wanken to blog these video
